It's Just So Overwhelming ...
Sorting out truth from lies is pretty much impossible.
Expecting the Wealthy (aka our government overloads) to chip in for the good of The People is pretty much impossible.
Existing on any level of humanity is becoming impossible.
So here I am; still angry at my core; still disheartened at where we are as a society; very very VERY overwhelmed at EVERYTHING that's going on in my country at this time.
So let's review shall we?
We, as a society, have allowed the Wealthy to form our government where they still collect money from us; get paid a solid wage; get excellent healthcare and still get respected while we, the now aptly classified Working Poor, have no jobs; no solid wage (because we have allowed them to set our minimum wage regardless of what it takes to live), no healthcare, and we get no respect except to pat some on the backs for carrying society (medical; grocery; gas; utility workers, etc.).
Then there are the Holidays and how the Working Poor are being told not to gather while the Wealthy seem to enjoy getting together both with family and strangers (it's documented, so go research for yourself).
And while some cry Socialism, I see this country as a reflection of Medieval Feudalism. I mean, seriously, our government officials sit atop their castles and the Serfs (us) mill around in filth and squalor below them. Okay, maybe I exaggerate but seriously ... this is where we are at. There is so much suffering; so many going unheard; lack of money and resources for the vast majority of Americans.
Then there is the newly elected President Biden who's pledged to invest $2 trillion in his first term to create jobs in areas such as infrastructure, transit and renewal energy projects; building, upgrading and modernizing housing; and in agriculture and conservation. Which is a statement that smacks of 'trickle down' which translated means money will again go to the corporations and the Wealthy while the working class waits once again for handouts. Now, I could be wrong. This could also be part of Modern Monetary Theory where our government becomes the employer and sets excellent wage standards for the many out of work and under paid people in America.
Time Will Tell and I, while reluctant, will hope for the best.
In the meantime, Pandemic Unemployment will run out shortly.
We are still in a Pandemic so jobs have gone away due to state; local business operating orders.
People have no money and cannot pay rent.
Clearly people cannot afford food looking at the massively long lines waiting at food pantries.
People have no money and cannot afford medical insurance or proper treatments.
People want to enjoy a little joy for the holidays and I suspect are charging up their credit cards only to not be able to pay them; probably resulting in bankruptcy and a bad credit history for their futures.
But don't worry about The Wealthy! They're fine. They have a steady income. They haven't been shut down (as a matter of fact, they need those of us they have allowed to keep working). They've got insurance and healthcare. They'll have a nice holiday season with family and friends. Their children are not going hungry. They do not have to be embarrassed to ask for help. As a matter of fact, they'll vote shortly to keep the government going because, ha, that's their meal ticket. Yes, there are good so no need to worry.
Let's just all be so thankful for what we have ...
"If he be like to die, he had better do it, and decrease the surplus population." After Scrooge asks the Ghost of Christmas Present what the future holds for Tiny Tim, the Spirit's answer makes clear that Tiny Tim, without help, will soon die.
