It's That Time Again ... Summer Vacation!
So I thought that I'd talk a little about Summer Vacation because it's a big deal to me. When I went in search of images searching by summer vacation, I only found beach scenes. Now, summer vacation with my family was loading the station wagon up with all manner of humans, pets, food, and lousy attitudes that took over the space for days as we drove back East to spend time with relatives. No beach involved (sadly). But I just think it's odd that the internet equates summer vacation with beach vacation. Not a bad thing; just one tracked.
Okay, so my family was loud; argumentative; and dysfunctional but I did so enjoy having those glorious sun filled days to lounge about; explore; and just enjoy 'being' for 3 months. And I still do. I was thinking the other day that it's probably not good in the long run to allow children to grow up in this sort of environment only to thrust them into a world where they will work themselves silly and only get 1 to 2 weeks of vacation (if you can call it that now) a year. Talk about a culture shock. And I'm not certain the up and coming humans are going to bend over like we all did to this sort of treatment. Yep, I'm still hopeful for a Revolution but that rant for another time.
So this year, Summer Vacation includes heading to SoCal and attending MidSummer Scream with my HauntBFF!!! It's gonna be just the best time! And we both signed up for the Halloween Treats Packages from Order of The Thinned Veil's Year Long Experience that will start (I believe) in June! Then, I'm taking off in October to work on personal projects and fly back to SoCal to enjoy Burbank (aka Halloween Town) with my BFF once again; capping the High Holiday at home in the Pan Handle of Texas with my own neighborhood haunts and monsters! Ahhh, but I get ahead of myself.
What prompted this post was that I was looking at my possible work schedule next year and thinking about vacation time (which is just really me trying to civilize the 1 acre of land that we call home) and how my life might shake out. No matter what; there is something wonderful about the warming of the weather; the sun on my skin; and the hope of life. Okay, then there's the cooling of the weather; things that greet you in the dark; and the wonder that is Halloween. Yep; it's a Ying/Yang kinda' thing for me it seems.
Enjoy life Peeps! It's not endless so you gotta enjoy what you can, when you can!
