What I Did On My Summer Vacation ... an essay
I did a thing on my Summer Vacation! Yes, not surprisingly to anyone who actually knows me, I planted my first Pumpkin Patch! Its layout is wrong; but then, it is my first. It'll be Fab nonetheless but next year ... man, next year. This image is of a single Luna Pumpkin. The rest are to the left and around the area of this bad boy.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's not rush Summer ... let's start at the beginning.
I am old and I come from a traditional school year which gave everyone a 3 month break in ... yes, the Summer. Summer; that glorious time when things bloom; fruit ripens on the vine; the smell of fresh cut grass lingers in the air and life is just a little sweeter and, hopefully, a little slower.
Now being a Freelancer, I am at the whim of my clients. I work when called upon. But I try to keep Summer open (as do I October) for some personal mental recharging time. And as a bonus this year, we had 3 nights of superior fireworks that I got to enjoy up close and personal from my back yard! Yep; burgers and homemade potato salad with drinks and I never had to leave the comfort of my lawn chair. It was magnificent!
I had Buffalo Grass (native to this area) planted but I believe the planting might have been a bit too deep and so I am still enjoying my somewhat 'dirt lot' of property. But next year ... yep, next year lol.
I also had a nice offer to shoot a couple days at The Paint Horse World but the draw of summer vacation was too great for me to wander that far from home.
The Hubbs and I also got a TON of nesting done around the homestead. There's much more to do but some key things got handled and that was super fun!
I also got to attend my first Texas Haunters Convention. It was so nice to be among 'my people' with so much costuming, horror, props, artists and I even got my Tarot Cards Read by a super gal who imparted a few words of wisdom to me. I have things to work on and I will.
Summer has been bone dry for the most part but we've had a low sitting over us so the weather just this week has started to develop into major heat. Nothing to complain about yet; as it has been comfortable to me.
All in all, I hope you all are having a nice Summer of your own and if not ... hey, Autumn is on the way!
