Halloween and All That Comes With It!

October is many things to many people, but for me it is the most special time of the year. From an early age, it was put to me that for Halloween, a person can be anythingggg or anyoneeee they want to be. So I have always chosen to been some sort of devil. Maybe I just love red? Maybe there's more to me then meets the eye? Who knows, but the thought of thise type of power of change has always been the magical, driving desire that makes me just giddy at this time, every year, without fail.

This year has been no exception. I found super nice local pumpkins (see above photo). I am on the verge of my little home overflowing with Jack O'Lantern Blow Molds and I've added to my collection of small; hand crafted Halloween Goodies that will being me joy all year long.

I'm always sad to see my favorite holiday end. But, while I tend to live the lifestyle all year long (a luxury I've allowed myself since growing older and realizing we do not live forever so why the heck not enjoy myself) Halloween is special just based on the coolness of the air; the energy around us all; and of course the candy. That's all ... it's just everything wonderful!

I leave you with a wonderful snippet of a recent read of mine. I also indulge myself with a monthly spooky book club and one of the offerings was just too damn good not to share! It's like the writer so gets it; the feelings behind Halloween. Links to follow, in case you too would like to live a little of the Spooky Lifestyle that a select few of us enjoy.

"Ever since I was a child, it was my favorite time of year -- a season of absolute magic. The air smelled of ripe apples and dying leaves and wood smoke. The wind made you ache in some place deeper than your bones. The sky overhead was layered with rich shades of orange and yellow and purple and red and a host of swirling colors too beautiful to be named. The harvest moon -- swollen and magnificent, and so close on the horizon you could almost reach out and touch it -- paid its annual visit and left your yearning for more. Clouds drifted by, peeking over their shoulders, reluctant to make way for winter's footfalls. Naked tree branches reached out as you walked past, skeletal fingers hungering for your touch, and packs of fallen leaves crunched beneath your wandering feet, their boundless brethren skittering past you in the chill autumn breeze like miniature ghosts haunting the landscape. Dusks and twilights lingered. Midnights stayed forever. Fat jack-o'-lanterns flashed jagged grins from porch railings and windows, flickering orange eyes tracking your ever move."
