The Sadness of the End of the Season ...
The Haunted Patio of 2015 |
I know a ton of you that know me, really know me, know that I pretty much live in Autumn in my soul. With that comes Halloween. But honestly, by the last week of October this sadness just sweeps over me like a wave and I feel so empty and done.
It happens every year; every year since I first experienced Halloween in the arms of my Father as he carried me from house to house in the country; his first born; the child he shared his personal whimsy with. He gifted me with the joy of Halloween and the idea that for one night, I could be anyone or anything I wished to be and that was so magical to me.
I remember that the air was crisp; leaves flew around us; jack o'lanterns glowed with big, brimming smiles and I was smitten. Now, at the lovely age of 60, I feel the same way every year that I felt that first Autumn. I chase the wind endlessly and I am comforted by those big Jack o'Lantern grins that welcome me around every corner.
It is a truly magical time of year and I offer up this poem that pretty much sums up the joy of the season. :) To all of you I wish you a marvelous Trick or Treat!

Mystic Magination Night!
Published: July 2018
On one mystic, magic night,
Jack O Lanterns glowing bright,
kids with bags of candy sweet,
roam door to door and street to street,
all dressed up for trick or treat!
Wizards with wands, pirates with hooks,
monsters and clowns with spooky looks,
kings and queens with capes and crowns,
a princess in her royal gown,
witches with warts and fairies with wings
movies stars with sparkling rings,
vampires with fangs that bite,
ghost that boo all dressed in white.
Imaginations taken flight,
on that one mystic, magic night.
Oh, the fun of Halloween,
be young or old or in between!
